Elizabethtown can provide better and more efficient service to its citizens. Most of my professional life has been spent as a land use planner and economic development specialist for city and county governments. That experience includes serving as a department director for three cities, including four and a half years as Elizabethtown's Planning and Development Director. My past work has given me firsthand exposure to successful and unsuccessful government practices. I want to use my experience and independent, common-sense approach to make our city government better.
The City Council needs to review our current tax and fee structures and make changes so those taxes and fees are more equitable.
The City needs to make more information about its operations accessible on its website and social media. Us citizens should be regularly told how our tax dollars are being spent. Also, information that is provided on the website needs to be easy to find.
As a former City staff member, I have seen wasteful spending practices firsthand which must be eliminated. Our city government must watch its spending just like us individual citizens must with our limited funds.
